The First Day of School

Today is the first day of school and everyone is excited to begin learning.  I would like to focus on three major areas this school year; AR, Flavorful Words and Mystery Book Clubs.  We will soon begin reading books and earning points through our AR program.  Students will earn charms for their charm necklace and monthly rewards depending on how many points they earn.  Each month we will also focus on vocabulary by discovering, "Flavorful Words", or words that add interest to our writing.  There will be a different theme each month and students will be asked to come up with words that fit our theme.  We will also be starting our Mystery Book Clubs where students will read and use their problem solving skills to solve mysteries.  I am very excited about this year and hope everyone learns a lot.  You may check this blog to see what is going on with the reading program at Sycamore School.  Happy Reading!!!!!
